Curatorial Ethos
The gallery is dedicated to championing artists who have achieved mastery of their creative disciplines and are among the most compelling contributors to culture today. It maintains a multicultural roster of emerging and established artists and estates who engage with the social and cultural issues of their time.
Jack Shainman Gallery is a commercial gallery founded in 1984 in Washington, D.C., by Jack Shainman and Claude Simard, which relocated to New York City shortly after opening. The gallery currently operates three locations: a flagship space at 46 Lafayette Street in Tribeca (opened January 2025), a Chelsea location at 513 West 20th Street, and The School in Kinderhook, NY. Over four decades, the institution has established a reputation for championing influential contemporary artists and introducing international talent to American audiences.
