Ippodo Gallery — gallery cover

Curatorial Ethos

The gallery presents Japanese Fine Art + Craft, focusing on works that embody Japanese aesthetic sensitivity born of a spiritual bond with nature. It celebrates human invention, the natural world, and sublime beauty through traditional techniques such as Nihonga painting and urahaku leaf backing.

Ippodo Gallery is a commercial gallery located in Tribeca, New York, established as the New York branch of a Tokyo-founded institution (1996) that opened its NYC location in 2008. The gallery serves as a cultural bridge to Japan’s living master artists, presenting fine handcrafted and rare works created using traditional materials and methods. Its exhibition program features unique objects including fine ceramics, lacquerware, metal crafts, sculpture, paintings, and works on paper.
