Curatorial Ethos
The gallery's curation is driven by similarities in approach to material, focusing on the formal elements of artistic practice and works described as having a 'quieter nature.' It presents themed exhibitions alongside an evolving collection, emphasizing observation, form, and color relationships within a domestic-inspired atmosphere.
155A Gallery is a contemporary art space located in a restored Victorian building on Lordship Lane in East Dulwich, London. Opened in 2018 by Karen Smith, the gallery replaces the traditional 'white box' model with an architectural-domestic setting inspired by Kettle’s Yard and Pallant House. It showcases a rotating collection of paintings, drawings, ceramics, and sculpture from emerging and established artists across the UK and internationally.
