Curatorial Ethos
Depo focuses on practices dealing with historical and contemporary social issues, aiming to provide a platform for politically and socially engaged projects. Its programme challenges Western narratives by fostering exchange among artists, curators, and researchers from the Balkans, Middle East, Caucasus, and North Africa through research-based documentaries and critical dialogues.
Depo İstanbul is a non-commercial, independent cultural space located in a former tobacco warehouse (Tütün Deposu) in Tophane, Istanbul. Initiated by Anadolu Kültür and opened in January 2009, it operates as a hub for culture, arts, and critical debate. The venue hosts exhibitions, screenings, panel discussions, workshops, and publishes the online journal Red Thread.
