SWAC bridges Souq Waqif's street life and studio practice, teaching craft disciplines and showing work by Qatari and visiting artists.
Souq Waqif Art Center opened in August 2013 in the heart of Souq Waqif as a cultural landmark for traditional Islamic and Middle Eastern art. The centre showcases exhibitions, studio spaces and public courses in calligraphy, pottery, painting and sculpture, running workshops for aspiring artists and seasonal shows during Ramadan and Eid. Admission to the gallery is free, with courses and exhibitions open to visitors daily in the old market.
