Loie Hollowell

Loie Hollowell

Loie Hollowell (born 1983, raised in Woodland, California) is an American painter whose abstract, symmetrical compositions of dilated, bodily forms draw on pregnancy, birth, sexuality and the female body. She works in oil, acrylic medium and sculptural relief, often building up surfaces with sawdust and resin. She curated Exquisite Corpse in response to her admiration for Kiki Kogelnik.

Veronika Pausova

Veronika Pausova

Veronika Pausova (born 1987 in Prague, Czech Republic) is a painter whose work is marked by direct, unapologetic imagery and energy, with playfully unrestrained compositional devices that encourage the creation of ‘uncomfortable’ works about the body. She cites Kiki Kogelnik as an influence.

Kiki Kogelnik

Kiki Kogelnik

Kiki Kogelnik (born 1935 in Graz, Austria; died 1997 in Vienna) was an influential Austrian-American artist and a key figure of Pop art. Active in Vienna and, from the early 1960s, New York, she worked in painting, collage, ceramics and sculpture, blending the body and the machine in colourful, playful figures and cut-out silhouettes that carry a feminist critique, although she preferred not to be labelled a feminist artist.

Sascha Braunig

Sascha Braunig

Sascha Braunig (born 1983 in Qualicum Beach, Canada) is a painter whose works explore the body, particularly the female body, through stylised, hard-edged figures rendered in bold, emotional colour. She began using the silhouette and cutout in her paintings after discovering the work of Kiki Kogelnik.
