Curatorial Ethos
The gallery operates as an international platform fostering long-term relationships with artists across Europe and Latin America, presenting a multidisciplinary programme that spans painting, sculpture, photography, and installation. It functions as both a commercial space and a living archive, tracing the evolution of contemporary art through historical positions alongside new commissions.
Galerie Nordenhake is a blue-chip commercial gallery founded in Malmö in 1976 by Claes Nordenhake, with locations in Stockholm (since 1986), Berlin (opened 2000, currently relocating from Lindenstraße to Charlottenburg), and Mexico City (opened 2017). The gallery has a history of pioneering early shows for international artists such as Nan Goldin, Mona Hatoum, Antony Gormley, David Hammons, and Jimmie Durham. Its spaces are designed by prominent architects including Gonzalez Haase AAS, Gerda Persson—Bo Pilo, and Frida Escobedo.
