Curatorial Ethos

Flutgraben champions cultural specificity over generic institutional formats, supporting experimental, politically engaged, and collectively oriented artistic practices. It provides infrastructure for artists who operate outside conventional art market structures, rooted in Berlin's queer and alternative art scene.

Flutgraben e.V. is a non-profit, self-organized art space and community located in Berlin at the former border between Kreuzberg and Treptow. Founded in 1997 as Kunstfabrik am Flutgraben, it operates within a protected former industrial building that houses artist studios, shared workspaces, and a project room open to the public. The association is financially self-supporting through studio rentals and functions as an experimental environment for artists and practitioners outside mainstream institutions.
