Galerie Cahn — gallery cover

Curatorial Ethos

The gallery prioritizes rigorous provenance research and scholarly publication while maintaining a dual programme that bridges ancient antiquities with contemporary artistic practice. Through its Cahn Contemporary initiative, it hosts living artists in residency to foster direct dialogue between historical artifacts and modern creative production.

Galerie Cahn is a commercial gallery in Basel specializing in Ancient Greek, Etruscan, and Roman antiquities, including sculptures, vases, jewellery, and coins. Founded in 1999 by the fourth generation of the Cahn family, it continues a business lineage dating back to 1863 and is directed by classical archaeologist Jean-David Cahn. The gallery maintains two Basel locations, publishes extensive archaeological catalogues, and regularly exhibits at international fairs such as TEFAF Maastricht.
