Curatorial Ethos
The gallery’s programme focuses on showcasing the diversity of Iraqi art across all genres while providing a dedicated platform for local artists to exhibit, perform, and collaborate. It functions as an inclusive cultural centre that supports emerging talent through free studio access and hosts a varied schedule of exhibitions, seminars, and interdisciplinary events.
Madarat Art Gallery operates as a private contemporary art space on Haifa Street in Baghdad, Iraq. Founded in 2006 by artist Hasan Nassar and relocated to its current address in 2014, the venue functions as a multidisciplinary cultural hub featuring a showroom, discussion room, and a complimentary studio for emerging artists. Following a multi-year hiatus, the gallery reopened in November 2022 and maintains a regular programme of exhibitions, music events, seminars, and workshops.
