Curatorial Ethos
The gallery aims to restore cultural and artistic life in Iraq, particularly Baghdad, by providing a platform for diverse artistic tastes through its programme of exhibitions.
Operating since its 2001 establishment by founder Haider Hashem, Akkad Art Gallery functions as a prominent contemporary exhibition space in Baghdad, Iraq. After pausing operations for over seven years due to regional security and economic conditions, the venue resumes public programming to actively restore local cultural life. The space consistently presents solo and group exhibitions that highlight established Iraqi artists and emerging talent, while showcasing a dedicated collection of regional works.
