Biography
Fady Mohammed Jameel is the president of Art Jameel and the figure who carried the Jameel family's long philanthropic tradition into the contemporary art world. The family's culture of community support reaches back to the 1930s and the late Abdul Latif Jameel, founder of the family business, whose name the philanthropies still carry; Art Jameel itself was established in 2003 as part of Community Jameel. Under Fady Jameel's presidency, Art Jameel moved from funding and partnership programs — with institutions such as the Victoria and Albert Museum and the Metropolitan Museum of Art — to founding its own permanent spaces, beginning with Jameel Arts Centre in Dubai in 2018 and followed by Hayy Jameel in Jeddah. He has framed that shift as a commitment to supporting contemporary artists from the region and sharing their work with international audiences, positioning the family's philanthropy as a long-term investment in the cultural infrastructure of the Middle East rather than individual patronage.
