MoMA PS1 is a contemporary art institution in Long Island City, Queens, New York, affiliated with The Museum of Modern Art. Founded by curator Alanna Heiss in the 1970s as part of the alternative space movement, it occupies a historic nineteenth-century public school building that was decommissioned in 1963. The venue serves as a world-renowned place for artistic experimentation and creativity, hosting major exhibitions such as Greater New York and the annual Warm Up music festival.
