The museum’s programme centres on decolonial perspectives, cultural coexistence, and the transmission of knowledge through contemporary African artistic practices. Its permanent exhibition framework invites visitors to engage individually and collectively with major socio-political and technical themes, while temporary shows and in-situ commissions expand this dialogue across diverse media and international collaborations.

MACAAL (Musée d’Art Contemporain Africain Al Maaden) is a contemporary African art museum located in the Al Maaden district of Marrakech, Morocco. Operated as a project of the Fondation Alliances, it presents a permanent collection organized around seven thematic dimensions that explore poetic, political, and technical issues in contemporary African practices. The institution also hosts rotating temporary exhibitions, site-specific installations, and educational programmes including guided visits and workshops for children and adults.
