About

The museum serves as a custodian of one of the world's great private collections of Islamic Art, preserving heritage through the display of historical artifacts ranging from pre-Islamic pieces to contemporary calligraphy. It functions as a multidisciplinary cultural hub that combines permanent collection displays with temporary exhibition spaces for educational and community engagement.

Established in 1980 by Tareq S. Rajab and Jehan S. Rajab, the Tareq Rajab Museum is a private institution housing over thirty thousand items of Islamic art, with approximately ten thousand on permanent display across two locations in Jabriya, Kuwait City. The original museum features collections of manuscripts, ceramics, glass, metalwork, arms and armour, textiles, and orientalist artwork, while the adjacent Tareq Rajab Museum of Islamic Calligraphy, founded in 2007, specializes in Arabic script mediums and religious textiles. The venue also includes the Dar El Cid Exhibition Halls, built in 2001, which host temporary exhibitions, conferences, and lectures.
