Immersive digital art in The Dubai Mall, in the Culturespaces tradition

Painting and architecture become rooms of light, colour and recorded music. Visitors walk the hall as the images move around them.
Infinity des Lumières opened on 1 July 2021 on Level 2 of The Dubai Mall, opposite Galeries Lafayette. The 2,700-square-metre hall is the largest digital art centre of its kind in the Middle East, fitted with 130 projectors and 58 speakers. It is a collaboration between Dubai's culture authorities, the French operator Culturespaces (known for Atelier des Lumières in Paris) and the Belgian technology company Barco. Rotating programmes wrap the room in thousands of moving images; cycles have included Van Gogh, Japanese prints, and a Gaudí, Kandinsky and Klee sequence with a Dubai-themed digital gallery.
