Entering the world of the land

The opening house of the Life on Land wave, designed by Ralph Appelbaum Associates and implemented by ACCIONA Cultura. It sets up the pavilion's central question: how Emiratis lived with, used and shared the resources of a demanding landscape across the country's three land environments — desert, coast and mountain. As the entry point to a 3,280 m² experience spanning ten houses and a garden, it gives visitors the framework — geography, climate, way of life — they carry through the houses that follow, establishing the land as the counterpart to the sea that shaped the rest of the museum.
