The museum's programme focuses on preserving and presenting Iraqi folk heritage, traditional crafts, and the daily life of Baghdad through ethnographic displays and sculptural representations of historical professions.
The Baghdadi Museum is a state archaeological and ethnographic museum located on the east bank of the Tigris in Baghdad, between Al Shohada bridge and Al Risafi square. Founded in 1970 to document traditional life in Baghdad with a focus on folk heritage and crafts, the institution was damaged in 2003 and officially reopened in August 2008. It features 45 scenes displaying traditional professions and popular customs through colorful life-size sculptures.
