Erimtan Archaeology and Art Museum hosts "BOTANICA: Plants of Anatolia", an exhibition realised in collaboration with BİRET, the Botanical Painters Committee of the Flora Research Society. Bringing together work in the field of scientific botanical illustration, the show presents the rich plant diversity of Anatolia in the shared language of art and science. The exhibition treats plants not only as subjects of scientific research but as living beings that shape the common memory of culture, everyday life and art. Through illustrations of plants growing across the different regions of Türkiye, it invites visitors to consider the relationship between observation, documentation and aesthetic expression. The careful observation, comparison and scientific study that lie behind drawing a plant accurately become visible alongside the works themselves. Besides the drawings, the exhibition includes herbarium specimens, historical documents, rare works and other materials. By gathering the work of those who have practised botany and botanical painting from the past to the present, it also demonstrates the role of botanical illustration in producing and accumulating scientific knowledge. The exhibition features 71 works by 40 botanical illustrators from Türkiye. Produced in a range of illustration techniques, the works convey the distinctive features of plants, such as leaves, flowers, fruit and seeds, with scientific accuracy, while turning nature into a powerful visual narrative. "BOTANICA: Plants of Anatolia" can be visited at Erimtan Archaeology and Art Museum from 26 September 2026 to 10 January 2027.
