Opening: Elmgreen & Dragset – Les Fous d’En Face

Galerie Max Hetzler celebrates the opening of Les Fous d’En Face, a new exhibition by Elmgreen & Dragset, on Monday, 19 October from 6 to 8 pm. Coinciding with Art Basel Paris, it is the duo’s second solo show with the gallery and their first in Paris, spanning both of its spaces at 46 and 57 rue du Temple. The title translates as “The Fools on the Other Side”. Three new installations build on central threads in the artists’ practice – absurdist humour, spatial subversion and open-ended narrative – and are partly rooted in reflections on their own past. Together they bring three sculptural approaches into play: the hyperreal, the recontextualised and the readymade. In How to Become an Artist, a hyperrealistic young boxer modelled on Michael Elmgreen as a young man leans exhausted on the ropes of a full-size ring under a single spotlight, his opponent nowhere to be seen. The exhibition runs until 16 December 2026.
