Artists Film International 2026: A Kind of Power

From 9 to 12 November, n.b.k. hosts A Kind of Power, the 2026 edition of Artists Film International. Now in its 19th year, the touring programme is organised by Forma in London and curated jointly with twelve partner organisations across four continents, each of which presents it in its own city. This year’s selection looks at how systems of power shape both the act of looking and the conditions of being seen. In an age of instant image circulation and pervasive surveillance, the films probe the relationship between gaze and power – how it can protect or expose, affirm or diminish – and the responsibilities that come with every encounter between camera, subject and viewer. Featured artists include Razia Akbari, Aqsa Arif, Alessandra Ferrini, Ira Goryainova, Kiyo Gutiérrez, Marte Hodne Haugen, Thaís Muniz, Ann Oren, Amaal Said, Mila Turajlić and Video News. The presentation opens on Monday, 9 November at 6:30 pm with a screening in the ground-floor exhibition space, introduced by Anna Lena Seiser, head of the n.b.k. Video-Forum collection, featuring works by Ferrini, Gutiérrez, Oren, Said, Turajlić and Video News. From 10 to 12 November the complete programme can be seen at the n.b.k. Video-Forum daily from 2 to 8 pm, with individual works available on request. Admission is free.
