Biography

Jem Perucchini (b. 1995) is an Italian painter born in Ethiopia. His figurative paintings draw on early Italian Renaissance painting, the patterns of African wax-print textiles, ancient Greek mythology, and the frescoes of Ethiopian churches, populating familiar narrative scenes with youthful, lithe, and enigmatic figures, often bathed in monochromatic jewel-like hues and lit by a glowing moon or sun. He has had solo presentations at Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo, Turin, and the Centro Andaluz de Arte Contemporáneo, Seville. His exhibition Sospiro at David Zwirner, New York (2026), is his first in the United States.
