Biography
Jean Boghossian is a Belgian-Lebanese artist, sculptor and painter of Armenian descent, born in 1949 in Aleppo, Syria. He is one of the few artists in the world who experiment by applying fire and smoke to their works. Raised in a family of jewellers, he turned to fire as his medium after fourteen years of experimentation, bringing a vibrant colour palette drawn from his background in diamonds and precious stones. Through a process of destruction and re-creation, the boundaries between drawing, painting and sculpture are blurred in his work. In 2017 he represented Armenia at the 57th Venice Biennale with the exhibition La Fiamma Inestinguibile.
